Iranian commercial center inaugurated in the free zone in Damascus

Damascus , (ST) – With the aim of enhancing trade relations between Syria and Iran and facilitating trade exchange, the Iranian commercial center in the free zone in Damascus was opened on Tuesday.

It includes a number of Iranian companies specialized in the commercial, industrial, agricultural and construction equipment fields.

 In a statement to SANA, the Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Seyed Reza Fatemi Amin, indicated that the center is an opportunity to enhance economic relations and increase trade exchange between the two countries.

Minister Fatemi Amin said that, “consultations were held between the two sides to increase joint investments and exchange experiences in a way that contributes to supporting Syria in the post-war phase and raising the exchange and commercial transactions between the two countries, which has currently reached $3 billion.”

For his part, the Head of the Higher Committee for Investors in the Free Zones and Chairman of the Syrian-Iranian Chamber of Commerce Fahd Darwish indicated that the center will act as a  data bank that will serve the  economic activities in Syria.

“The Syrian trader and industrialist can through this data bank obtain various information related to Iranian companies directly, as it is a center for import, export and marketing”, He added.

Darwish stressed that this data bank is very important in enhancing economic relations between the two countries.

The Head of the Iranian-Syrian Joint Chamber, Kiwan Kashfi, pointed out that the center is the first Iranian commercial center located in Syria, and it will form the basis of Iranian trade in it.The center will include offices that will facilitate trade with Iranian private companies .In addition the center will act as a coordinator between the Syrian and Iranian Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture.

The opening of the center coincides with the exhibition of Iranian products, which opened in the exhibition city in Damascus yesterday and will continue until the 3rd of next month, with the participation of 164 commercial and industrial companies.
