Iranian Chief of Staff: US attack on al-Shayrat airbase contravenes international law

Damascus – Chief of the General Staff of the Army and Armed Forces, Gen. Ali Abdullah Ayoub received on Sunday a phone call from the Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, Major General Mohammad Bagheri, who expressed Iran’s support for Syria and condemnation of the US aggression on al-Shayrat airbase, SANA reported.

The Iranian military official considered the US attack a blatant act of aggression against an independent country and that it contravenes the international law, pointing out that Khan Shaikhoun incident is doubtful and is a conspiracy against the Syrian people and its leadership and that Iran believes in the need to conduct a neutral field investigation to reveal the truth about what happened.

In turn, Ayoub expressed his thanks and appreciation for the positions of the Islamic Republic of Iran and its support for the Syrian people, army and leadership in the face of the terrorist war against them, affirming that the US aggression on al-Shayrat airbase has increased Syria’s determination and will to continue the war against terrorism till eliminating it completely.
