Iranian Army’s Ground Forces to hold armored maneuvers

The commander of the Iranian Army’s Ground Forces has announced plans to hold several maneuvers to increase the preparedness of Iran’s armed forces in countering threats against the country.

Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan said on Sunday that armored vehicles would participate in drills to be held in the southeastern and northeastern parts of the country in the current Persian calendar year (started March 21).

“Along with these drills, we will try to boost the training level of the forces and improve their operational capacities for countering threats in an asymmetric combat,” the commander pointed out.

Over the past few years, Iran has held several military exercises to enhance the defense capabilities of its armed forces and to test modern military tactics and equipment.

Iran has repeatedly assured other nations, especially its neighbors, that its military might poses no threat to other countries, stating that its defense doctrine is based on deterrence.

Iran’s Army Ground Forces recently held a military drill, codenamed Bait-ul-Muqaddas 25, in the central Iranian province of Esfahan and succeeded in achieving all objectives.

Iran Maintains its Space Security

In another development, Iran’s semi-official Fars news agency reported on Sunday that Iran has opened a new space center to monitor and observe space objects and satellites passing through the country’s atmosphere.

“This center has been inaugurated to maintain the security of Iran’s space and spatial systems since we should constantly monitor spatial objects and satellites passing through the country’s atmosphere,” Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi was quoted by Fars as saying at the launch ceremony.

The center will use three different methods of radar, electro-optic and radio detection to track and detect space objects, Vahidi said.

The system can also be used by other countries to control their space objects in orbit, he said.
