Iranian Armed Forces Ready to Give Crushing Response to Threats

TEHRAN – The Iranian Armed Forces are ready to give a crushing response to any enemy threat, Navy Commander Rear Admiral HabibollahSayyari said, adding that the country will unveil its most advanced destroyer early next month.

Today, not only the Navy, but also all Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran enjoy such a combat preparedness that they are able to give a crushing response to any desperate move by the enemy and nip it in the bud,” Sayyari said, addressing a ceremony in the Southern city of Kazeroun on Monday night.

Elsewhere, he announced unveiling of Iran’s most advanced home-made destroyer named ‘Damavand’ on March 6.

In recent years, Iran has made great achievements in the ship-building sector and attained self-sufficiency in producing even equipment and systems for the Naval forces.

Sayyari announced in November that the country’s advanced destroyer, ‘Damavand’, enjoys more capabilities than the first home-made destroyer, ‘Jamaran‘.

The destroyer will be stronger than Jamaran in terms of defensive systems, range and operational range, radar systems, weapons, electronic warfare and communication systems,” Sayyari told reporters in Tehran.

He, meantime, announced that the same state-of-the-art systems would be mounted on Jamaran too.

Iran’s first home-made destroyer, Jamaran, was launched in late February 2010. The Mowdge Class vessel has a displacement of around 14,000 tons and is equipped with modern radars and electronic warfare capabilities and is armed with a variety of anti-ship, surface-to-surface and surface-to-air missiles.

In September, the Iranian Navy announced plans to launch Damavand in the Caspian Sea in the near future.

“Destroyer Damavand will soon join Iran’s naval fleet in the Caspian Sea,” the Navy’s top commander in Northern Iran Admiral Khordad Hakimi announced told reporters.

“We have no security problem in the Caspian Sea today, and the Iranian Navy’s presence in the country’s territorial waters,” he added.

“The Navy is fully prepared to confront any threat,” the Admiral reiterated.

Commander stresses Iran’s continued progress in optimizing Laser-Guided Weapons

Meanwhile, Iranian Air Force Commander Brigadier General Hassan Shah Safi announced on Tuesday that the country enjoys full capability to optimize its hi-tech weapons systems with high precision striking capability and building new generations of missiles.

“The Air Force is fully capable of building equipment for bottleneck operations, overhauling different types of aircraft and manufacturing and optimizing different types of laser(-guided) weapons with pinpoint striking capability and new generations of missiles,” Shah Safi said, addressing a ceremony in Tehran on Monday night.

He also underlined that the Iranian Air Force enjoys expertise and equipment for electronic warfare and is capable of increasing the flying range of its fighter jets, conducting aerial refueling and mounting defensive weapons on combat fighters.

The Iranian Armed Forces have recently test-fired different types of newly-developed missiles and torpedoes and tested a large number of home-made weapons, tools and equipment, including submarines, military ships, artillery, choppers, aircrafts, UAVs and air defense and electronic systems, during massive military drills.

Defense analysts and military observers say that Iran’s wargames and its advancements in weapons production have proved as a deterrent factor.

Iran successfully tested second generation of Sejjil missiles and brought it into mass production in 2013.

Sejjil missiles are considered as the third generation of Iran-made long-range missiles.

Also, Iran’s 2000km-range, liquid-fuel, Qadr F ballistic missile can reach territories as far as Israel.

Iran’s surface-to-surface Sejjil missile, the long-range Shahab-3 ballistic missile which has a range of up to 2,000 km, and Zelzal and Fateh missiles have all been developed by the Aerospace Organization of the Defense Industries.

This is while the solid-fuel, two-stage Sejjil missile with two engines, is capable of reaching a very high altitude and therefore has a longer range than that of the Shahab 3 model.
