Iran Warns Against Repercussions of Supporting Terrorism

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahianrenewed Tehran’s support for political solution to the Yemeni crisis, and warned the supporters of terrorism and extremism in the region that their actions will backfire on them.

“Supporters of terrorism and militarism in the region will become victim of their own wrong policies,” Amir Abdollahian said in a meeting with a Dutch foreign ministry delegation in Tehran on Wednesday.

 He reiterated that Iran supports political solution to the ongoing crisis in Yemen which has been by the Saudi aggression against the Arab country.

The Iranian deputy foreign minister noted that the outcome of all wars and crises in the Middle East has been emergence of a new type of terrorism and extremism in the region, and said, “Therefore if a political solution is not found soon for the war in Yemen, it will result in a new type of terrorism in the region.”

He said Iran’s Mideast policies are based on containing terrorism, helping to the strengthening of the political trends for the settlement of crisis, rejecting foreign interference and militarism, and supporting the demands of the people of the region while deploring the double-standards and contradictory attitudes of some countries towards terrorism in the Middle East.

Referring to the threats of terrorism and extremism to global security, Amir Abdollahian regretted European nationals’ membership in terrorist groups for operations in the Middle East as well as their increasing skills in criminal acts.

The Iranian deputy foreign minister also criticized the systematic violation of human rights in Bahrain and underlined the need for achieving a political solution to that country’s crisis.

Last Wednesday, Amir Abdollahian lashed out at the western countries’ support for terrorism in the region, and said terrorist operations and violence have created aggravating conditions in Iraq, Syria and Bahrain as well as Yemen.

“The developments of the recent years in the region have shown that military and violent acts have not resolved anything and, rather, made the situation even more complicated in Iraq, Syria, Bahrain and recently Yemen,” Amir Abdollahian said in a meeting with Kuwaiti deputy prime minister and foreign minister in Kuwait City.

Amir Abdollahian in a separate meeting with Kuwaiti Deputy Foreign Minister Khalid Jarullah in Kuwait City on Wednesday discussed the latest developments in Yemen, Iraq, Bahrain and Syria.
