Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kan’ani has reaffirmed the need to end the US military presence in the northeast of Syria and to stop supporting the terrorists in this country.
In a press conference on Wednesday Kan’ani said that Iran is a key regional player and it plays a decisive role in Syria, stressing that “our region needs friendship and cooperation among its countries more than fake foreign alliances and ineffective defense systems.”
He pointed out that the realistic Iranian diplomacy has used all its strength and capabilities during the past months to guarantee security in the region and consolidate relations between the Islamic states.
Regarding the visit of Syria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faisal Al-Mikdad to Tehran, Kan’ani said that the visit comes at a previous invitation by Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Amir-Abdollahian and during this visit, issues relating to bilateral cooperation, as well as regional and international developments will be discussed.
Commenting on the Turkish regime’s threats of launching a military operation in the north of Syria, Kan’ani said that “military action may exacerbate the crisis in the Syrian areas and it will bring no security or stability.”
