Iran takes action in response to European sanctions

Tehran, (ST) – Today, the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the imposition of sanctions on 3 entities, companies, 22 persons in the European Union, and 8 persons in the UK, in response to similar measures.

The ministry said in a statement that these sanctions come because of supporting terrorism, inciting its practice against the Iranian people, and interfering in Iran’s internal affairs.

The ministry added that Iran condemns the measures taken by the European Union and the British regime to support and facilitate terrorism and also condemns the  EU and Britain’s refraining from confronting the vandalism of the aforementioned persons, entities and institutions, that violate international obligations in the field of combating terrorism.

Iran stresses that the EU and the British regime’s imposition and tightening of unfair sanctions on Iran is a clear violation of the basic principles of international law provided in the Charter of the United Nations.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani affirmed yesterday that his country will soon announce new sanctions against human rights violators in the European Union and Britain, in response to new sanctions issued by the European Union and Britain against a number of Iranian personalities and institutions.
