Iran: Syrian People’s Assembly elections a positive step towards stability and security in Syria

TEHRAN, (ST)- The Iranian Foreign Ministry has affirmed that holding the People’s Assembly elections in Syria is a positive step towards achieving peace and stability in the country. 

Spokesman of the Iranian Foreign Ministry Abbas Musavi expressed Iran’s satisfaction over Syria’s success in holding these elections despite the suffering of the Syrian people from the brutal war waged against them, the destruction caused by the terrorist organization, the presence of foreign occupation troops in the country and the unilateral coercive measures imposed on the Syrians.

“Iran hopes that these elections will be a positive step towards attaining security and stability in Syria, achieving progress in the intra-Syrian dialogue process and alleviating the suffering of the Syrian people,” he said.
