Iran summons the Swedish ambassador in protest against repeated abuse of the Holy Quran

Tehran (ST): The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday summoned the Swedish ambassador to Tehran Matas Lentz and informed him of its protest against the repeated abuse of the Holy Quran in Sweden.

Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani said, “We strongly condemn the repeated desecration of the Holy Qur’an and Islamic sanctities in Sweden, and we hold the Swedish government fully responsible for the consequences of stirring up the feelings of Muslims all over the world,” noting that continuing to offend Islamic sanctities and spreading hatred in this way is a perfect example of organized violence and hostile action against the Muslims of the world.

Kanaani considered the Swedish government’s re-allowing of the desecration of the Holy Quran disregards the decisions of international human rights institutions and organizations, calling on the Swedish government to fulfill its international responsibilities in preventing the recurrence of such unfortunate acts that violate human rights as well as religious and human values.
