Iran says it is ready to extend the gas supply contract with Iraq

The Iranian Assistant Minister of Oil for Gas Affairs Majid Chenki confirmed Tehran’s readiness to extend the contract to supply Iraq with gas.

He made the remarks during his meeting on Wednesday in Tehran with senior officials in the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity.

Chenki said that the energy diplomacy is one of the programs approved by Iran’s Oil Ministry, calling on the Iraqi side to abide by the current contracts and previous agreements.

He reiterated the Iranian Oil Ministry’s readiness to receive new proposals from the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity in order to extend the contract of exporting gas to Iraq.
