Iran, Russia, Syria Will Boost Efforts to Find Ways to Stop War
Tehran – Secretary of Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani said on Friday that Iran, Russia and Syria are further activating their diplomatic capacity to reach a comprehensive strategy to stop war, while strengthening military coordination to control Takfiri terrorism.
Speaking in a meeting with Syrian Defense Minister Fahd Jassem al-Freij, Shamkhani voiced satisfaction over the outcome of the Iran-Syria-Russia tripartite meeting on confronting terrorism and Takfiri groups.
He congratulated his Syrian counterpart on consecutive success of Syrian Arab army and popular forces to wipe out considerable parts of different parts of Syria from terrorist elements.
Al-Freiji is in Tehran to attend the tripartite meeting with defense ministers of Iran Hossein Dehqan and of Russia Sergei Shoigu, which was held in the Iranian capital on Thursday.
Shamkhani underlined that the Islamic Republic of Iran will continue supporting Syria to uproot the terrorist groups being present in the country.
He said today, Syria is the scene of confrontation against a highly dangerous plot, which if is not suppressed its roots will spread to entire part of the world.
He said the political and deconstructive attitude of the US and its western and regional allies towards the crisis in Syria will be influential in escalation of the political and military tension.
‘Support for terrorist groups and at the same time, offering diplomatic mechanisms to settle crisis, will be the blatant contradictions questioning honesty of the countries.’
He went on to say that the only way to end the ongoing crisis in Syria will be continuing Syria-Syria talks to achieve the diplomatic initiative agreed upon by the collection of the country’s political groups.
Al-Freiji for his part thanked Iranian leadership, government and people for all-out support for Syria in its campaign against terrorism and said Syrian government and nation will with a firm determination continue a ceaseless campaign until full cleansing of criminal terrorists in Syria.
Lauding ‘highly successful and crucial’ Tehran session, al-Freiji said the three countries of Iran, Syria and Russia will continue close coordination in different levels and within framework of new cooperation plans.
Campaign against terrorism needs firmness, speed, says Dehqan
Meanwhile, Iranian Minister of Defense Hossein Dehqan said on Friday that campaign against terrorism needs firmness and speed.
Speaking on the sidelines of the Iran-Russia-Syria tripartite meeting, Brigadier General Dehqan said, ‘Campaign against terrorism will be possible in light of vigilance, unity, firmness and speedy action. On the call of the legal government of Syria, we consider support for government and people of the country in campaign against terrorism as our duty.’
He said categorical and crushing action against terrorism and restoration of peace and stability in the region and the world are the declared policies of Iran.
Underlining that the Islamic Republic of Iran is decisive in campaign against terrorism and in supporting the countries being the terrorism victim, Dehqan said Iran will continue offering all-out assistance, including military advice, aid and other humanitarian help to the people of Syria.
He added that Iran will also prepare the ground for return of war refugees.
The minister announced, ‘The measures are aimed at restoration of peace, stability and security in the region.’
He noted that Iran-Syria joint campaign against terrorism is an instance of the battle between right and wrong and said, ‘It is hoped that through vigilance, unity, firmness and more speed in action, the axis of resistance will witness materialization of the divine promise: ‘If you help (in the cause of) Allah, He will aid you, and make your foothold firm.’
Meanwhile, Syrian Defense Minister Fahd Jassem al-Freij said for his part that blood of Iranian martyrs and its mix with that of Syrian martyrs will undoubtedly result in defeat of terrorism and victory of the axis of resistance.
He recalled support of the US, Turkey and certain ArabGulf states for terrorism and said, ‘Those claiming fraternity with Syrian nation are now providing the terrorist Takfiri groups with visible and invisible support, committing the worst crimes in the case of the Syrian people.’
He announced that the leadership, nation and armed forces of Syria are determined to rid Syria of criminal terrorists and their supporters through assistance of the friendly and allied states.
He appreciated Iran for its initiative in holding the trilateral session and hoped that through coordination made in such meetings, there will be more cohesion in thee axis of resistance in fight against the Takfiri terrorists.
The Iranian and Syrian defense ministers met and conferred with each other on the sidelines of the tripartite session to discuss bilateral and regional issues.
