Moscow – Iran Ambassador to Moscow Mehdi Sanaei on Tuesday discussed the Middle East issues, especially Syria, with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister and special envoy of President Putin on the Mideast affairs Mikhail Bogdanov.
The two sides reviewed issues and outcomes of international contact group on Syria meeting held in Vienna.
Iran and Russia are members of the International group supporting Syria and are trying to find a fair settlement for the crisis in Syria through political means and intra-Syria negotiations without foreign interference.
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad JavadZarif and his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov reviewed the situation in Syria on the sidelines of meeting of the International Contact Group held in Vienna.
Iran, EU review measures to implement JCPOA
On the other hand in Vienna, Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and Deputy EU Foreign Policy chief Helga Schmid held talks in Vienna on Tuesday to adopt measures to implement the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action.
They met on the sidelines of a meeting of the International Contact Group on Syria in which ministers and other representatives from nearly 20 countries are participating.
During the meeting, Schmid and Araqchi discussed the decisions made in the recent Iran-G5+1 Joint Commission session and called for accelerating the implementation of the nuclear deal.
The top EU official briefed the Iranian side on the efforts made by the European Union to boost and facilitate economic relations with Iran, particularly in the banking sector.
She said that the European countries are determined to expand economic relations with Iran and remove obstacles in this regard.
