Iran restates strong support for Syria

TEHRAN,(ST)_Syria and Iran stand by principles of right, justices and sovereignty and reject foreign dictations, Iran’s President said on Tuesday.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad also added in a meeting with Syria’s Grand Mufti, Sheikh Ahmad BadereddinHasson, in Tehran that sanctions being imposed on the two countries enhance adherence to these principles to serve not only the peoples of Iran and Syria but also the whole region.

“Part of the region’s countries has become a tool in western hands to notch up the west’s goals in the Middle East region.”

As for the 26th International Islamic Unity Conference held in Tehran, the Iranian president praised the outcomes and ideas presented by Sheikh Hasson to enhance clergymen’s role in disseminating culture of justice and resistance.

The Mufti thanked Iran’s attitude that backs Syria in confronting the US-Western plot, noting that the armed terrorist groups has destroyed dozens of factories, hospitals, and economic centers.

“Unity of Islamic nation’s people is the best way to confront enemies’ conspiracy that aims to foment sedition.”

Larijani blames some countries

In another meeting between the Syrian Mufti and Iran’s Shura Council Speaker, Ali Larijani, the talks also focused on crisis in Syria.

Larijani said: ““Nothing could hamper continuation of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s all-out support for Syrian government and people under the current circumstances.”

Press TV quoted Larijani as saying: ““The Zionist regime (Israel) will benefit the most from undermining Syria in the current situation in the region.”

He restated Iran’s support for the political plan outlined by President Bashar al-Assad to resolve the crisis in Syria, adding: “the western and regional countries that back terrorism in Syria are responsible for the Syrian bloodshed,” according to SANA.

The Mufti, for his part, said that Syria and Iran are being targeted because of their support for the Palestinian cause and the Palestinian people’s rights.

Khamenei warns of sedition

Sheikh Hasson also attended another meeting with the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, Ayatollah Khamenei.

Khamenei warned against the danger of fomenting seditions and sectarianism among the Islamic nation’s people, saying that this would lead to pay no attention to the Palestinian cause.

Iran hosted the 26th International Islamic Unity Conference on January 27-28 where representatives of 102 countries took part.
