TEHRAN –Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahianunderlined that the crisis in Syria can only be resolved through Syrian-Syrian talks.
“The idea of national reconciliation put forward by the Syrian President Bashar Assad is the only way to end the crisis in the Muslim country,” Amir Abdollahian said in a meeting with Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal al-Meqdad in Tehran on Friday.
The Iranian deputy foreign minister pointed to the recent victories of Syrian army against the terrorists, and said, “The resistance of the Syrian nation was the key behind the success of the government in dealing with the crisis.”
Amir Abdollahian underlined that Syria serves as a symbol of resistance against terrorism and extremism for the Islamic world.
On Wednesday, Chairman of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission AlaeddinBoroujerdi underlined that the recent Israeli terrorist attack on the Golan Heights in Northern Syria that killed a number of Hezbollah members and an Iranian military advisor further reinforced the resistance front against Israel.
“This terrorist incident resulted in further integrity of the resistance against the Zionist regime,” Boroujerdi said in a meeting with Meqdad in Tehran.
He reiterated that the Israeli attack further revealed that the terrorist groups and Israel coordinate their operations in Syria.
The Syrian deputy foreign minister, for his part, appreciated Iran for its support for Syria during the difficult times in the Arab country, and said, “Iran and Syria have strategic relations … which influences the regional and international developments.”
He pointed to the recent victories of the Syrian army and popular forces in different parts of Syria, and ensured that the efforts made by the resistance front will soon result in “the complete defeat and destruction of the terrorists and their foreign supporters in Syria“.
