Tehran (ST): Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Amir Abdullahian renewed his country’s protest against Europe’s interference in Iran’s internal affairs, stressing that Tehran would respond in kind if the European Union imposed restrictions on it.
Abdullahian was quoted by the Iranian news agency as saying during a telephone conversation with French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna: “Iran’s constitution considers peaceful protest a right of the people, but these legitimate demands are separate from rioters and terrorists who are systematically targeting the country’s security and the life, livelihood and property of the Iranian people”.
Referring to the West’s behavior in resorting to double standards, Abdullahian said: “It is surprising that responding to riots in Europe is a good and desirable act, but the same is considered repression in Iran,” adding that “we will not allow any party from inside or outside to target national security of the country.”
