Riyadh (ST): Iran reopened the headquarters of its embassy in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, during an official ceremony attended by representatives of the foreign ministries of the two countries, in a step that completes the process of implementing the bilateral agreements between Iran and Saudi Arabia.
In a speech delivered during the opening ceremony of the Iranian embassy in Riyadh, Ali Reza Bekdli, Iranian Assistant Foreign Minister for Consular Affairs, said: Today is an important day in the history of relations between the two countries, and we are very happy to be in the friendly and brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Bekdli explained that with the raising of the flags of Saudi Arabia and Iran in the two countries, “bilateral cooperation will reach its climax,” explaining that the two countries are opening a new page in bilateral and regional relations towards more cooperation and rapprochement.
This opening came three months after the signing of the Saudi-Iranian agreement to resume diplomatic relations between them under Chinese auspices.
