Iran Not Intimidated in Talks With Six Big Power, Says Zarif

Baku–Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said Iran was conducting talks with six big world powers without feeling any intimidations.

Making the remarks here on Monday during a meeting with Iranian nationals, he stated that Iran felt no fear in its talks with six world powers on its nuclear talks.

Referring to the historical letter of the Late Founder of the Islamic Republic Imam Khomeini to the former Soviet Union leader Mikhail Gorbachev, he said in the letter the Iranian leader underlined that all world powers were hollow inside because real power belonged only to God and there was no power capable of confronting it.

He further highlighted the sense of self-belief as one of most important principles of the Islamic revolution in Iran.

The foreign minister said this very feeling was the key to Iran’s powerful success against big powers.

Commenting on the recent letter of the Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei addressed to American and European youth, Zarif said that power in the today meant ability to rule hearts and minds mixed with economic power.

Reaching nuclear deal possible if other side stops using sanctions as instrument

In the same context in Tehran, the deputy foreign minister for Europe and American affairs said that if the other side change its mind and refrain from using sanction as an instrument, the two sides can reach a comprehensive agreement soon.

According to a report by Foreign Ministry Media Department on Monday, Majid Takht-e-Ravanchi in a meeting with Secretary General of Norwegian Foreign Ministry Vegger Strommen welcomed promotion of political consultations between Iran and Norway, expressing pleasure with growing trend of ties between the two countries.

He added that it would be appropriate to use existing capacities either at bilateral, regional or international levels in direction of cooperation and interaction between the two countries.

He underlined necessity of developing economic and trade cooperation between the two countries, adding that low level of economic exchanges between Iran and Norway needed more attention and that there are plenty of opportunities for development of mutual ties.

Takht-e-Ravanchi named oil, gas, petrochemical industry, energy, fishery and environment as suitable grounds for bilateral cooperation.

He also referred to mutual cooperation in the fields of culture and science and called for provision of necessary facilities for Iranian students in Norway and removal of their problems.

The senior Norwegian diplomat, for his part, referred to age-old ties between the two countries and said there are plenty of potentials for cooperation.

He expressed hope that nuclear negotiation between Iran and Group 5+1 could produce good results and that success in the talks would be beneficial to all related sides at bilateral, regional and international levels.

Concerning economic cooperation, Strommen said energy, fishery and environment are among suitable areas of cooperation and expressed hope that bilateral cooperation could further expand in future.

Strommen is here to attend the fifth round of talks between Iran and Norway.

Nuclear talks should cover general, detailed terms, says Velayati

Head of Strategic Research Studies Center at the Expediency Council Ali Akbar Velayati said on Monday that nuclear talks should cover the general and detailed terms.

He made the remarks on the sidelines of his meeting with visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

‘Our nuclear negotiators move in line with the directives of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic revolution,’ Velayati said.

The Iranian nuclear negotiators are obliged to move in line with a defined framework and one of the main principles call for simultaneous conduct of nuclear talks in general and detailed terms, he said.

General and detailed issues should be proceeded in parallel, Velayati said.

Referring to the peace negotiations between Palestinians and Zionist regime in 2104, he said separation of general and detailed terms in talks is regarded as a colonial trick pursued by Americans and Zionists.

He said that the western governments are exploiting the timeframe envisaged to set the general terms and the details afterward as procrastination and bargaining chip.

He said that the Oslo and Camp David accords are good examples of the western governments procrastination.

Such historical examples indicate that separation of general and detailed terms in talks is not advisable, he said.

On re-imposing sanctions on Iranian oil tankers by European Union after the European Court of Justice revoked the sanctions on the oil tankers citing lack of substantive evidences, he said Iran was under tough economic sanctions from early stages of the Islamic revolution.

‘We have learned how to overcome economic sanctions and the country under no circumstances will change its stand or give up legitimate rights,’ he said.

In the meeting, the two sides also discussed Iran’s nuclear program, he said.

Chinese foreign minister believes in Iran’s peaceful nuclear program and the fact that the Islamic Republic of Iran has no plan to proliferate nuclear weapons, he said.

After the meeting, the Chinese foreign minister told reporters that current level of relations between the two countries is satisfactory, Velayati said.

The two sides should do their best to achieve the dlrs 200 billion target set for annual trade, he said.
