Iran is the second country in the world to produce a nano-drug for breast cancer

On January 23rd, Iranian specialists announced the use of nanotechnology to produce a drug for the treatment of metastatic breast cancer by integrating immunotherapy and chemotherapy methods.

“This drug is a compound of an antibody that releases DM1 into the cell through intracellular receptors, which leads to the death of the cancerous cell,” said Dr. Kiwan Haji Ahmadi, an official in the company that produced this drug.

Haji Ahmadi pointed out that Iran has thus become the second country in the world to produce this drug and the first country in the Eurasia region capable of achieving this technology.

Haji Ahmadi said that this drug joins the category of biological treatments and leaves the least damage to healthy cells.

This product is one of 55 products that were unveiled at an exhibition held in Tehran to display national achievements based on nanotechnology in the fields of health, water, environment, energy, agriculture, food industry, automobiles, transportation, industry and construction.
