Iran Insists On Nuclear Rights Amid Rapprochement With West, Says Rafsanjani

Iran insists on its nuclear rights amid rapprochement withe West, Iran’s Expediency Council chairman Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani said on Saturday.

Ayatollah Rafsanjani made the remarks in the first session of the Expediency Council in the new Iranian year.

Referring to the last round of nuclear talks between Iran and the P5+1, Rafsanjani said that the negotiations which began upon a decision by the Supreme Leader are going ahead with full supervision of the leadership to ensure that Iranian rights enshrined by Non-Proliferation Treaty be respected.

He said that the Iranian negotiating team needs support from all political parties in the country to help the nuclear negotiations yield fruits.

Iran has never abandoned negotiations – Larijani

Meanwhile, Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said on Saturday that Iran has never abandoned nuclear negotiations and is determined to continue it to reserve the country’s dignity.

Some believe that they can break the firm determination of the Iranian people through hue and cry but to no avail, he said.

Many countries lack enough courage to stand up to global arrogance but the Iranian people have proved their power and resistance, he said.

They make some unreal gestures during talks with Iran but the Iranian negotiating team is vigilant enough not to be deceived, he said.

Since the beginning of nuclear negotiations, Iran has never walked out, Larijani underlined.

They assume that they can dissuade Iran through threats but to no avail, he said.

He advised them to be rational and never assume that they can affect the Iranian people through such illogical words, he said.

German parliament favors Iran-West nuclear deal

In the same context, German Parliament is making every effort to help an immediate deal between Iran and the West, visiting deputy head of Social Democratic Party of Germany’s Parliament Rudolf Muse-Nich said on Saturday.

He made the remarks in a meeting with the head of National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of Majlis, Alaeddin Boroujerdi.

The German lawmaker called for enhanced parliamentary relations between Iran and Germany.

The Iranian MP, for his part, called for further parliamentary ties between the two countries based on internationally accepted principles, such as mutual respect and avoiding intervention in internal affairs of one another.

On the recent anti-Iran resolution passed by European Parliament, Boroujerdi said the resolution failed to realize the realities and has damaged the thaw of relations between Iran and Europe as it ignored the sentiments of Iranian nation.

Using nuclear technology for civilian purposes, enrichment on the Iranian soil and protection of nuclear achievements of Iranian scientists are among inalienable rights that cannot be taken away from Iran, Boroujerdi said.

He said that Iran favors a world free from nuclear weapons and that using nuclear technology for weapons production is not Iran’s defense doctrine and therefore it has signed nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and accepted supervision of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on its nuclear activities.
