Iran files a complaint to the UN Security Council regarding the Israeli attack on its consulate in Damascus

Tehran (ST) – Yesterday, Iran filed a complaint to the UN Security Council regarding the Israeli terrorist attack on its consulate in Damascus, demanding that those responsible for this crime be immediately handed over to justice.

Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations, Amir Saied Iravani, conveyed the complaint, which stated: “The occupying Zionist entity launched a hateful and criminal terrorist attack on Iran’s diplomatic sites in the Syrian Arab Republic”.

He called on the Security Council to take any necessary measures, including holding an urgent meeting, to deal with this blatant violation and to  prevent future hostilities that endanger the security and safety of diplomatic missions.

Iran held the Zionist entity fully responsible for the repercussions of these terrorist crimes, while maintaining its legitimate and inherent right, based on international laws and the UN Charter, to respond decisively to such terrorist acts.

In the same context, the speaker of the Shura Council, Nizam al-Din Al-Moussawi, affirmed that the Israeli attack on its consulate in Damascus constitutes a violation of all international treaties.

Al- Moussawi stated that these criminal and terrorist acts by the Zionist entity are a form of revenge for the defeat and helplessness that it suffered on the main battlefield.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani strongly condemned the Israeli terrorist attack that targeted the Iranian consulate building in Damascus, stressing that it was a flagrant violation of international law.
