Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and European Union foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini met in the Belgium’s capital, Brussels, IRNA reported.
Amir-Abdollahian arrived in Brussels on Monday night to hold talks with the officials at the EU on the regional questions, issue of Syria in particular.
His meeting with Mogherini focused on regional developments including those in Syria and Iraq.
Recently, Iran has proposed an updated plan on the crisis in Syria.
With the start of Russia’s attacks on the terrorist group of Daesh in Syria, the crisis in that country has entered a new phase.
Diplomatic efforts to settle the crisis and fight with Daesh still continue.
Already, Mogherini described Russia’s role in removing tension and the crisis in Syria as effective and important.
Russia has started airstrikes against Daesh forces in Syria since September 30.
Russia’s military involvement in Syria started after Syrian government’ demand.
