Iran decries US support for terrorists in Syria

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amirabdollahian decried the US support for terrorists operating in Syria and said that the White House is abetting the crimes against humanity in Syria, according to IRNA.

In a meeting with a number of Chinese researchers, scholars and reporters, he said the US by abetting the terrorists have impeded the reform program ushered in by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

Outlining situation in the Middle East, he referred to Iran-Syria ties as strategic and said Iran strongly supported the Syrian people as well as the political plan proposed by president  Bashar Al-Assad to resolve the crisis.

The deputy foreign minister said that Iran opposes any kind of intervention in Syria, and that certain foreign governments insist on interventionist plans in Syria but were stopped by veto of China and Russia.

Having failed in their interventionist plans in Syria, he added, they provoked proxy terrorist operations.

Under the current circumstances, the US has spoiled the chance for the Syrian people  to reach national reconciliation and go to ballot boxes to form democratically elected government and stopped opponents of the Syrian government from solving their differences through political means as well.
