Iran: Current suffering of the Syrian people caused by occupation, aggression and western coercive measures
Iran has renewed its call on the foreign forces illegally present in Syria to immediately and unconditionally leave the country, stressing the need to attain a political solution that respects Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Iran’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Majid Takht-Ravanchi said during a UN Security Council meeting on Wednesday that “the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria continues to be seriously violated either through the occupation of parts of it or by the repeated attacks of the Israeli occupation entity and the terrorists.”
He affirmed that the crisis in the country could only be resolved when the occupation ends.
Occupation, aggression and the imposition of illegal and inhumane sanctions by the United States and European countries have created continuous suffering for the Syrian people, Takht-Ravanchi said, adding that all occupying forces must leave Syria without any precondition or further delay.
He called on the Security Council to strongly condemn the Israeli occupation’s provocative activities in the occupied Syrian Golan, particularly its new settlement expansion plans there, pointing out that any Israeli procedures that aim at changing the legal and demographic status of occupied Golan are null and void and of no legal effect.
