Iran Continues Arms Production to Boost Deterrence

TEHRAN-Iranian Ground Force Commander Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan stressed plans to powerfully continue manufacturing different modern weapons and equipment to increase the country’s deterrence power.

The doctrine of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Armed Forces is based on defense, security and deterrence and the Armed Forces specify their goals and plans based on this roadmap and move in this direction,” Pourdastan said, addressing the Iranian cadets in Tehran.

Emphasizing Iran’s non-aggressive policy, he said, “We create deterrence by manufacturing different types of weapons and equipment and having prepared forces so that no one would think of the raw idea of aggression against our country.”

In relevant remarks today, Iranian Deputy Defense Minister for Logistics, Research and Industrial Affairs Brigadier General Mehdi Farahi underlined the country’s plans to equip the Armed Forces with more state-of-the-art weapons to increase their preparedness for any possible aggression.

“Today, after the victory of the Islamic Revolution, despite the cruel sanctions and severe restrictions imposed against our country by the enemies and the world arrogant powers, thanks God, advanced and fully indigenized defensive equipment have been built as a result of the industrious efforts made by Iranian experts, and they will be delivered to the Armed Forces,” General Farahi said in Tehran.

“On-time delivery of products and their high quality is the most important principle in the defense ministry for manufacturing equipment and we are powerfully entering the global markets,” he added.

Farahi referred to Iran’s achievements in aerospace and aviation fields, and said, “Today, in the aviation industry, all planes are overhauled with the best quality and at present different drones are also built by the (Iranian) defense industries.”

Iranian officials have always stressed that the country’s military and arms programs serve defensive purposes and should not be perceived as a threat to any other country.

Iran’s missile, radar systems on constant alert

Meanwhile,  Commander of Khatamol-Anbia Air Defense Base Brigadier General FarzadEsmayeeliunderlined that Iran’s radar, electronic and missile systems are always awake to monitor and show reaction to the slightest hostile moves of the enemies.

The air defense is always ready for mission and its radar, electronic, missile and monitoring systems are not turned off under any conditions and they are always under operation,” Esmayeeli said, visiting the existing defense systems in the Southwestern parts of Iran.

He said that the air defense system is constantly monitoring and providing coverage for every inch of the country’s airspace.

Esmayeeli also said that radar stations have stretched in 3,600 points across the country, adding that the intensity of this monitoring depends on the type of threats and presence of trans-regional states in the region.

In relevant remarks in July, Esmayeeli announced that Iran will unveil its new strategic radar system in September which will cover a range of over 1,000 kilometers.

This is a strategic radar system with a range of about 1,000 kilometers and it will be unveiled on September 1,” Brigadier General Esmayeeli told reporters last month.

He noted that Khatamol-Anbia’s new radar system will be deployed in a strategic region of the country.

Brigadier General Esmayeeli reiterated that Iran has the safest airspace in the Middle East, and said, “Today the number of passing flights has increased to 1,300 in every 24 hours as compared with 900 flights three months ago.”

Also in July, Brigadier General Esmayeeli announced that the country will unveil new missile defense systems early in September.

Missile systems with the capability to stand against electronic warfare and mid-range and long-range radars will join the integrated air defense system on September 1,” Esmayeeli said in the Northeastern city of Semnan.

The radar and missile defense systems will cover an important part of the country in the South and Southeast,” he added.

Esmayeeli underlined that defensive depth is one of the main important feature of these systems, specially the long-range radar defense systems.

Esmayeeli announced in June that the country is able to meet all its needs in manufacturing air defense systems.

We have been able to build all our needed (air defense) systems domestically,” the senior commander told reporters in the Central province of Isfahan.

Noting that defending the Iranian airspace is a priority in the country’s defensive doctrine, he said that increasing the number of air defense systems has always had a message of peace and friendship.
