Iran condemns the terrorist attacks by the occupation entity on Syria

Iran’s ambassador and permanent representative to the United Nations, Majid Takht Ravanchi, denounced the terrorist attacks on Syria by the Zionist entity, criticizing at the same time the UN Security Council’s silence regarding the entity’s continued violations of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria.

Takht Ravanchi said in a Security Council session on the humanitarian issue in Syria: “Iran strongly condemns the long-term occupation of the Syrian Arab Golan by the Israeli entity, as well as the numerous violations of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria, including the recent attacks that targeted civilians and civilian targets and infrastructure, especially terrorist acts that targeted Damascus International Airport,” stressing that these evil and terrorist acts by this entity violate international and humanitarian law and the sovereignty of Syria and endanger the stability and security of the region.

Takht Ravanchi pointed out that his country recognizes Syria’s legitimate right to defend itself in accordance with international law and the Charter of the United Nations, saying: “We ask the Security Council to renounce its double standards, condemn Israel’s aggressive actions openly, and hold this rebellious entity accountable for its aggressions and aggressive practices.”

Takht Ravanchi referred to the situation and developments in Syria and said: “Eleven years of aggression, occupation and terrorism have caused great problems for the Syrian people, and this situation has been exacerbated by imposing unilateral sanctions on the Syrian people, which impeded the implementation of Security Council Resolution No. 2585, the provision of basic services and the reconstruction efforts.”

Takht Ravanchi explained that the sanctions imposed on Syria have hindered even the delivery of humanitarian aid in various ways and delayed the return of refugees to Syria, pointing out that these illegal measures have weakened the ability of the Syrian government to achieve economic and social stability, as well as improving the living conditions of the Syrian people.

Takht Ravanchi added, given the dire situation in Syria, providing humanitarian aid is necessary and political circumstances should not be allowed to prevent humanitarian aid from reaching the needy, nevertheless, these measures must be taken with full respect for Syria’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and national unity, stressing that his country continues to support the Syrian people and government in their efforts to preserve the country’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.
