Iran Condemns Burning of Palestinian Toddler

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson strongly condemned the Zionist crime of setting a house on fire, which led to burning a Palestinian infant .

Marziyeh Afkham also called for awakening of the conscience of world people by trying to stop such horrible crimes.

The incident, she added, is another indication of the Zionist regime’s violent nature.

Israeli baby killing terrorist act – UN chief

United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has described the recent Israeli arson attack that killed a Palestinian toddler in the West Bank as a “terrorist act.”

On Friday, Ban condemned the tragic “murder” of an 18-month-old Palestinian child and called for the perpetrators of this terrorist act to be promptly brought to justice.

“Continued failures to effectively address impunity for repeated acts of settler violence have led to another horrific incident involving the death of an innocent life. This must end,” Ban’s spokesman Stephane Dujarric said in a statement released on Friday.

Ban also expressed his deepest condolences to the family of Ali Saad Dawabsha, the burned-to-death child, who were themselves critically wounded in the arson attack, adding that the violence was a result of Israel’s illegal settlement policy.

“The absence of a political process and Israel’s illegal settlement policy, as well as the harsh and unnecessary practice of demolishing Palestinian houses, have given rise to violent extremism on both sides,” the statement further read.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas also held the Israeli regime responsible for the incident and ordered Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki to file a lawsuit with the International Criminal Court (ICC) over the horrific incident, denouncing the “war crimes and crimes against humanity committed each day by Israelis against the Palestinian people.”

The European Union also urged the Israeli regime to demonstrate “zero tolerance” for the persisting settler violence against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, adding that the “cold-blooded killing of the Palestinian toddler… highlights the urgent need for a political solution of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.”

Moreover, various Palestinian factions have voiced outrage at the recent killing of the Palestinian infant by Israeli settlers, and called for action to stop the recurring settler acts of violence.

The Palestinian baby boy was burnt to death in the early hours of Friday when Israeli settlers, wearing black balaclavas, smashed a window and threw a molotov cocktail into the family’ bedroom while they were asleep in the West Bank village of Duma, south of Nablus.

According to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, Israeli settlers have carried out at least 120 attacks on Palestinians in East al-Quds (Jerusalem) and the West Bank since the start of 2015.

Zionist forces kill Palestinian on Gaza border

On the other hand, Zionist forces have shot dead a Palestinian and wounded another one in the northern Gaza Strip, medical sources say.

The deadly incident occurred near the town of BeitLahia in the besieged territory on Friday.

Palestinian medical sources say 27-year-old Mohammad Al-Masri succumbed to his injuries following the incident.

Gaza health ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qudra confirmed that another man was also injured and rushed to a hospital.

A spokeswoman for the Israeli army has claimed that the Israeli soldiers opened fire as the two Palestinian men tried to approach the so-called buffer zone, established by the Tel Aviv regime along the border with Gaza in 2008 for alleged security reasons.

The zone officially extends 300 meters into the Gaza territory, but reports say the Israeli regime is trying to create a much larger no-go zone.

Israeli soldiers target Palestinian civilians, including children and farmers wandering close to the border fence. The troops also target Palestinian scrap metal collectors trying to make ends meet.

The Gaza Strip has long been suffering under an all-out land, aerial, and naval blockade imposed by the Israeli regime.

Israel denies about 1.7 million people in Gaza their basic rights, such as freedom of movement, jobs that pay proper wages and adequate healthcare and education.

Earlier in the day, a Palestinian baby was burned to death after Israeli settlers set fire to homes in the occupied West Bank.

At least 2,140 Palestinians, most of them civilians, were killed during 51 days of Israel’s war on Gaza last summer.
