Iran calls for paying attention to sanctions and the displaced people in Syria

TEHRAN, Jan.16, (ST)- Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian said on Sunday that the illegitimate presence of U.S. forces in Syria and the Zionist entity’s attacks on Syrian territories hinder the political solution for the crisis in Syria.

His remarks came during his meeting with the visiting United Nations Secretary General’s Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen in Tehran.

The minister affirmed that the crisis in Syria will not be solved without paying attention to the issues of sanctions and the displaced people in Syria

He appreciated UN special envoy’s help to the national dialogue for peace and stability in Syria.

For his part, the UN envoy described the Syrian situation as stable.

Pederson also underlined the need to preserve national sovereignty, political settlement and territorial integrity in Syria.

He is in the Iranian capital to exchange views about the Syrian developments.
