Iran calls for lifting unilateral sanctions on Syria, condemns violations of occupation entity in the region

On August 28th, Iran renewed its demand for lifting all unilateral coercive sanctions imposed by the United States on Syria and providing neutral and non-politicized humanitarian aid to all regions in Syria.

Iranian Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Amir Saeed Iravani said during the Security Council session held on the situation in the Middle East and Syria: “People in Syria are suffering from severe economic problems. The politicization of humanitarian aid and the obstruction of international support for the reconstruction of Syria, especially by the United States and its Western allies, have led to the continuation of the crisis and the escalation of the suffering of the Syrian people.”

Iravani also expressed his country’s condemnation of the repeated Israeli attacks on Syria and the continued occupation of the Syrian Golan, calling on the Security Council to condemn these criminal acts and take decisive measures to stop all its aggressive actions against Syria and Lebanon and halt the ongoing war of extermination against the Palestinian people.

Iravani pointed out that his country’s position is consistent with that of Syria which provides for that any political solution to the crisis there must include ending the illegal presence of US forces, stopping their exploitation of Syrian resources, and ending the US support for terrorist groups and organizations that commit acts of violence against innocent civilians.

Iravani pointed out that with the continued support of the United States and Britain, the Israeli occupation entity continues to commit war crimes and systematic crimes against the Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank, violating the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Palestine and Lebanon without any punishment, warning that these destructive acts carried out by the Zionist entity in the region constitute a serious threat to international peace and security.
