Iran calls for international intervention to abolish the inhuman embargo imposed on it in the light of the Corona crisis

Tehran,(ST)- The President of the Islamic Shura Council in Iran, Ali Larijani, called on  the international community today to unify its voice and stances to immediately end the embargo imposed on Iran, including the American medical embargo.

Iranian news agency, IRNA, quoted Larijani as saying in separate messages to the heads of parliaments in various countries of the world. . “This ban, including the ban on medicines and medical equipment, is one of the obstacles in the way of eliminating the Corona virus.”

Larijani pointed out that international circumstances call for today and more than ever, international and regional cooperation to mobilize all technical and logistical capabilities to help countries suffering from the spread of the virus, expressing regret that his country and in these sensitive circumstances is subject automatically to direct and indirect US embargo and stressing that this American behavior clearly contradicts the UN Charter and WHO laws.

He pointed out that this inhuman ban not only affected Iran’s efforts to help those infected with the Coronavirus and prevent its spread, but its negative effects extended to all national, regional and international efforts aimed at eradicating the virus.
