The Iranian and Austrian deputy foreign ministers have expressed concern about the crisis in Syria.
Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and Reinhold Lopatka, in their meeting in Tehran, called for non-interference of foreign countries in Syria’s domestic affairs and said the future fate of the Arab country needs to be determined by the Syrian people.
The two officials also stressed the need to find a political strategy inthe Middle East and to prevent the spread of extremism and its repercussions in the region and the world.
Syria has been gripped by deadly unrest since 2011. Reports indicate that the Western powers and their regional allies — especially Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey — are supporting the “militants” operating inside the country.
