Iran announces establishment of the Revolutionary Guard’s nuclear command

Tehran, (ST) – Iran announced for the first time the establishment of the Nuclear Revolutionary Guards Command to protect the country’s nuclear facilities.

Fars News Agency stated that the establishment of this command was announced during the report contained in the disclosure of a network that was planning to carry out sabotage at the Fordow nuclear facility.

Earlier, the mandate for the protection of nuclear facilities for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in Iran had been announced, but it was the first time that this had been officially confirmed and the establishment of the “Nuclear Revolutionary Guard Command” had been announced.

10 months ago, after several cases of sabotage in the country’s nuclear facilities, the head of the Iranian Civil Defense Organization, Brigadier General Gholam Reza Jalali, announced the establishment of a unified nuclear defense security command.

He also stressed that the establishment of this command will completely address the previous weaknesses, and the entire nuclear facilities group will be immune to sabotage operations.
