Tehran (ST) – Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian and his Emirati counterpart Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan affirmed during a phone call that the agreement to restore diplomatic relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia is in the direction for strengthening cooperation and rapprochement between the countries of the region.
The Iranian News Agency (IRNA) stated that the two ministers discussed developments in bilateral relations and issues of common interest at the regional and international levels.
Abdullahian said that these relations are witnessing steady growth in the political, economic and trade fields, and the recent constructive talks between the security and economic officials of the two countries will pave the way for raising the level of relations and further developing them.
He expressed his satisfaction over the strengthening of relations between Syria and the UAE to serve the common interests of the two countries.
For his part, Abdullah bin Zayed said that the Iranian-Saudi agreement is a positive step in the interest of the region, expressing his hope that stability and security will be established in the region.
