Moscow– Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that there is no doubt about the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) by Iran and the six world powers – known as the G5+1.
Zakharova, who was speaking during her weekly press conference, also said that approval of a resolution by the IAEA Board of Governors is essential for paving the way for sustainable partnership of the UN nuclear agency in the implementation of the JCPOA.
Referring to the arguments underway in the United States over Iran deal, the Russian spokeswoman said Moscow is closely monitoring these debates and hopes they will end successfully so that unprecedented efforts by the international community to reach a nuclear deal with Tehran will yield fruit.
She said that Russia along with the Iranian side is taking the preliminary measures for the implementation of the JCPOA, including the production of sustainable radioisotopes in Fordo nuclear site.
Zakharova said that under the terms of the JCPOA, 90 days after the approval of Resolution 2231 in the UN Security Council, Iran deal has to be implemented and after that Iran will have to take practical measures to curb its nuclear program based on its commitments.
She also said that the US and the European members of the G5+1, on the other hand, have to prepare the ground for removal of unilateral sanctions on Iran.
Zakharova said Moscow had no doubt that the parties involved in the nuclear talks will honor their commitments based on the JCPOA.
Iran, Russia having strategic partnership
On the other hand, Vice-President for Science and Technology Affairs Sorena Sattari said Friday that Tehran and Moscow were moving in the path of strategic partnership and continued enhancement of cooperation.
Speaking to IRNA at the end of his four-day visit to Moscow, Satari said that Iran-Russia relations will promote in different levels as an example of good relations coupled with mutual trust.
Referring to his meetings with top-ranking Russian officials, including President Vladimir Putin, the vice-president said that Iran and Russia enjoyed common views on different issues and wanted enhanced scientific and technological cooperation.
He also touched upon the first round of a high-profile meeting on scientific and technological cooperation between Iran and Russia on Wednesday and expressed hope that the meeting will affect Tehran-Moscow cooperation on these areas and influence other areas of bilateral cooperation.
He also said that signing cooperation agreements was an important part of his visit to Moscow.
During his four-day stay in Moscow, Sattari also expressed Tehran’s readiness for buying modern Superjet-100 passenger plane from Russia.
