Iran and China stress that repeated Israeli attacks against Syria are a flagrant violation of international law
New York, (ST) – Iran’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Amir Saeid Iravani affirmed that terrorism and the occupation of parts of Syrian territory are hindering the process of achieving complete stability in the country, in addition to the ongoing Israeli attacks on its lands in flagrant violation of international law.
Iravani said at the Security Council meeting regarding the situation in Syria: The repeated Israeli attacks against Syria complicate the situation there, stop humanitarian activities and disrupt the arrival of humanitarian aid. He reiterated Iran’s condemnation of the Israeli entity committing this blatant violation of international laws.
Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations stressed that all foreign forces illegally present in Syria must leave the country without any preconditions or delay. He reiterated his country’s position calling for finding a political solution to the crisis in Syria that respects the sovereignty, integrity and territorial integrity of Syria.
Iravani pointed out those Western unilateral measures exacerbated the humanitarian suffering of the Syrian people. He called for an increase in the flow of humanitarian aid to Syria.
Iravani also renewed Iran’s condemnation of stealing the natural resources of the Syrian people in the areas occupied by American forces.
China renews its support for Syria in combating terrorism and maintaining security and stability
For his part, Dai Ping, Charge d’Affaires of China’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations renewed his country’s support for the Syrian government in taking the necessary measures to combat terrorism, maintain security and stability, and eliminate long-term threats to the political process in Syria. He stressed that the international community should combat all forms of terrorism in Syria without any tolerance.
Xinhua News Agency quoted Dai Ping as saying in a testimony before the Security Council regarding Syria: Over the past four months, “Israel” has continued to launch air strikes on various sites in Syria, which China is deeply concerned about. He added: “We urge the countries concerned to the foreign forces should immediately end their illegal actions, and the foreign forces should immediately end their illegal military presence in Syria.
The Chinese envoy stressed that unilateral sanctions and the plundering of the resources of the Syrian people have long hindered economic recovery, social development, and improving the livelihood of the people in Syria, which led to the exacerbation of the human suffering experienced by this people. He indicated that his country welcomes the successful holding of the 21st round of high-level meetings on Syria under the Astana formula.
