Iran, 5+1 to Discuss JCPOA, Arak Reactor, Says Zarif

New York– Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif said Iran and P5+1 group of world powers in a joint meeting to discuss reconstruction of the Arak nuclear plant and details of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

We are approaching mid October deadline when parties to the nuclear agreement shall start their measures to implement the JCPOA to the extent that sanctions are lifted,’ he told IRNA.

By that time, he added, Iran should have taken its actions too.

‘It is required to coordinate a number of issues. First, the mechanism of lifting of sanctions and ensuring that regulations and executive circulars to this effect are issued in the meantime.’

To this end, Zarif said, the joint commission will start its work.

The Iran-5+1 joint commission will meet on Monday to follow up the historical nuclear deal reached on July 24 in Vienna, Austria.

Next item on the agenda of talks in New York will be Iran’s bilateral action with Europe and with the US and mutual responsibilities of the parties involved, he said.

Certain subjects such as reconstruction of the Arak reactor are also involved which is a joint topic between Iran and 5+1 to be coordinated by China.’

According to Iran’s top diplomat, another issue to be discussed in the New York meeting is the commitments to be provided to Iran by the P5+1 member states.
