Investment Project Ensures 1000 Jobs

DAMASCUS ,(ST)-  The Damascus Countryside Council has approved to establish an investment and tourism project in partnership with the Syrian Company for Tourism on a area of land estimated at 152 dunums in the area of Ashrafieh Sahnaya motorway at the southern entrance of Damascus.

During the opening of the first session of the Council yesterday, chairman of the Council’s Governorate, Saleh Bakro, pointed out that the project, which will be built on land owned by the Syrian Company for Tourism will provide 500 jobs directly and 500 later indicating that the governorate will fund the project through the budget of the governorate council and administrative units.
“The aim of the project is to support  the independent budget of the governorate and the budgets of administrative units with additional financial resources. The governorate of  Damascus Countryside will offer a plan to implement the project  with the help of some engineers and specialized technicians and prepare for the feasibility study for the competition on the best design for the project, which includes malls, hotels, investment, educational, hospital, tourist and residential buildings,” , Bakro pointed out.

He also invited the council to unite the efforts to rebuild what was destroyed and repair the damages by the participation of all economic sectors and social groups, pointing out that the governorate formed three committees for Relief to provide emergency aid to the affected citizens and demand from the Ministry of Local Administration to increase the governorates independent  budget to ensure the growing needs.

Deputy Chairman of the  Executive Bureau  in the governorate, Rateb Adass,  pointed out to the  size of the compensation to the people affected by the terrorist acts received by the governorate of Damascus Countryside reached till 400 million Syrian Pounds, indicating that the governorate had created a fund to support the affected citizens and with the agreement with the Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Tourism and Agriculture to contribute to providing 10 million Syrian Pounds for this purpose.
