“Invest in Syria” project launched to encourage investments in the country

The Syrian Forum and the Invest in Syria Fund launched the “Invest in Syria” project to attract investments, and carry out projects in many productive and service sectors in all Syrian regions.

This came during a press conference held by the Fund’s management at the Syrian Forum headquarters in Damascus, under the title “Solutions and Models for Investment in Syria Under Sanctions.”.

The General Manager of the invest in Syria Fund Sinan Hatahet said in a statement to a SANA reporter that the fund, that was established in the United States of America to attract and encourage Syrian funds to establish its investment projects in Syria, began its work two years ago in the Syrian north, and today its activities are launched targeting all Syrian regions and governorates and many productive and service sectors, infrastructure, banks, finance, industry, agriculture, and the technology and energy sector.

Hatahet indicated that the fund is a financing institution that was established in the United States of America, and it provides investors and those wishing to enter into investment projects that the fund intends to launch a special license from the American treasury to overcome the sanctions imposed on the country, reassure investors, and provide adequate guarantees to transfer money to and from Syria.

He also pointed to the fund’s endeavor after liberation to complete the projects in the north and expand its work in the rest of Syrian governorates.

For his part, the Fund’s Board of Directors, Mohamed Yasser Tabara drew attention to the fund’s endeavor to return investments to the country, by facilitating and encouraging procedures for investors to carry out a number of projects in various regions of Syria, so that expatriates become partners in investments no only donors.

Regarding the Western sanctions that constitute an obstacle to investment in Syria, Tabbara said: There are many ways to overcome these sanctions, and the fund can provide assistance and legal advice to overcome these sanctions.

It is noteworthy that the Syrian forum is a non-profit organization, working to support Syrian societies inside Syria and in all countries of expatriation.
