The International Union of Muslim Scholars has condemned the Israeli attacks on Syria, targeting its territory and the attempts to incite sectarian strife within it, calling on Arab and Islamic countries to stand by it.
In a statement published on its website, the Union said that it “follows with great concern and condemnation the intensive Israeli airstrikes on various regions of Syria, in a blatant violation of the sovereignty of an Arab Islamic state, and against the security and stability of its people.”
The Union emphasized that “the Israeli enemy has not and will not spare any effort to thwart any attempt towards stabilizing Syria. Instead, it seeks with all its means to undermine any rising power within it and to push towards its division by igniting strife, in a scene that reflects its expansionist ambitions and its old-new aggressive approach.”
The Union holds this entity fully responsible for the repercussions of this escalation and warns of the dangers of international and regional silence that encourages it to persist in its aggressions.
The Union urged Arab and Islamic countries to take a serious and responsible stance alongside Syria in the face of this blatant aggression, and to work on supporting its stability, territorial integrity, and sovereignty.
It also called on international and regional organizations to fulfill their responsibilities in condemning this aggression and to take clear positions that deter the occupation from continuing its violations.
The International Union of Muslim Scholars reiterated its full support for the steadfast Syrian people, their army, and national leadership, praying to God to protect Syria and its people from all harm.
