International Red Cross: The aid brought into Gaza Strip is insufficient to meet the worsening humanitarian needs

The regional spokeswoman for the International Committee of the Red Cross in the Middle and Near East, Iman Trabelsi, announced that all the aid brought into Gaza Strip is insufficient to respond to the huge humanitarian needs that increase every day.

Trabelsi added in her interview with Sputnik that: “The situation has not changed at the level of humanitarian needs. Rather, the opposite has happened, as the health sector is on the verge of complete collapse, due to the lack of fuel and thus the lack of electricity. This is a catastrophic situation for hospitals, as it causes a complete interruption of services within them with the absence of electricity,” noting that “infants in incubators may lose their lives at any moment as a result of the absence of electricity.”

The spokeswoman pointed out that “the situation of hundreds of thousands of families is more than dangerous, as they struggle to secure a living, potable water, and basic health services, as well as safe shelter, which represents a concern for most families in light of the lack of safe areas in Gaza.”

The spokeswoman further explained that thousands of children and elderly are taking refuge in hospitals, including Al-Quds Hospital, which houses thousands of displaced people, while the occupation authorities gave orders to evacuate the hospital as soon as possible.
