Geneva,(ST)- The International Red Cross on Tuesday appealed for more than$100 million to help Morocco, after the devastating earthquake that claimed the lives of more than 2,800 people.
AFP News Agency quoted the Director of the Disasters, Climate and Crises Department at the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, Carolyn Holt, as saying: We are seeking $112 million, so that we can meet the most urgent needs, which include health, water, sanitation, and relief materials in the field of shelter and basic needs.
“We need to make sure we avoid a second wave of disasters,” she added.
Last Friday night, an earthquake measuring 7 on the Richter scale struck several regions in Morocco, with its epicenter in the Al Haouz and Marrakesh regions.
