BEIRUT- Deputy Foreign Minister of the International Parliament for Security and Peace Haitham Abou Saeed has condemned the terrorist mortar and rocket attacks launched against several neighborhoods in Damascus claiming the lives of innocent people and wounding scores.
In a statement on Monday, Abou Saeed urged the countries sponsoring terrorism to stop supporting and financing the terrorists in Syria and to refrain from violating the Security Council resolutions NOs. 2170 and 2178 which call for halting the support for terrorists in Syria and urge fighting terrorism wherever it is.
He warned against the US announcement about arming and training the terrorist groups, calling for combating Daesh (ISIL) terrorist organization which poses serious threat to national security in the region and the world.
“The US decision to train and arm the terrorists lacks studying because it ignores the existence of some terrorist groups that equal ISIL in its danger. These very groups have killed women and children, committed horrible massacres and used internationally-banned weapons in Syria,” Abou Saeed clarified.
Several people were martyred and scores were wounded yesterday after the terrorists fired rockets and mortar shells against residential areas in Damascus. Serious damage was also caused to houses, shops, cars and other properties in the targeted areas.
