The 43rd session of the International Flower Fair, organized by the Ministry of Tourism in cooperation with Damascus Governorate, kicked off Wednesday evening in Tishreen Park in Damascus.
A number of local and international companies producing plants and flowers and interested in medicinal and aromatic products, plant breeding supplies and garden landscaping and honey producers are participating in the exhibition. The exhibition is accompanied by various cultural, artistic and entertainment activities.
The exhibition, which will last until September 9, aims to publicize Syrian products of flowers and plants of various kinds, promote them internally and externally, and benefit from them in the field of industry.
In a statement to reporters, the Minister of Tourism, Engineer Mohamed Rami Martini, noted that the exhibition is a tourist, cultural, social and popular event that includes many activities. It also promotes cooperation between the ministries of tourism, agriculture and local administration.
Martini underlined the importance of the exhibition in presenting varieties of plants that can be used to preserve vegetation, especially in light of climate change, fires, and drought that the Middle East is witnessing.
the Minister of Agriculture, Engineer Mohamed Hassan Qatna, pointed out that the exhibition is an important opportunity for all producers of flowering and ornamental plants to display their products, compete with each other, learn about everything new in the world of plants, and new ideas and visions in flower and garden arrangement, exchange cultures, and at the same time enhance trade exchange between participants.
Governor of Damascus, Engineer Muhammad Tariq Krishati, stated that about 140 local companies from the Syrian governorates and other Arab and international companies are participating in the exhibition.
Krishati noted that Damascus Governorate participates in the Gardens Directorate’s pavilion, which is considered a model for squares in the city of Damascus, and in a pavilion for the Environment Directorate that contains entries for recycling environmental waste materials and reshaping them artistically.
Dr. Ahmed Diab, Director of Economics at the Ministry of Agriculture, clarified that the Ministry is participating in the exhibition with a pavilion consisting of several sections, including the fruit trees section, rural women, forestry and the tourist village model, pointing to the biodiversity of flowers and roses that live in all climatic conditions in the various Syrian governorates.
Youssef Fayyad Saeed, owner of Al-Marj Al-Akhdar Nurseries in Tartous, pointed out that they specialize in producing ornamental plants and landscaping gardens, and they are accustomed to participating to display and market their new varieties.
Abdel Moneim Nasser Al-Issawi, head of the Iraqi delegation participating in the exhibition, highlighted the importance of their participation in exchanging experiences and communicating with those interested in this field, and it is a message of love and peace from the Iraqi people to their Syrian brothers.
