International Community Should Join Efforts to Eliminate Terrorism in Syria, Find Political Solution to Crisis: Lavrov

MOSCOW, (ST)- Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has reiterated that the international community needs to join efforts as to eliminate terrorism in Syria and find a political solution to the crisis in the country.

During an annual meeting with students and academic staff of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Diplomatic Academy on Friday in Moscow, Lavrov reaffirmed his country’s firm support for Syria in its fight to completely eliminate terrorist organizations and to create suitable circumstances for political settlement there.

He said that diplomacy plays a role in multi-polarity and in resolving global issues, adding that “our western partners don’t want to cooperate with us because they want to maintain their hegemony in the region.”

The Russian top diplomat asserted that the United States and the European countries are violating international laws, imposing unilateral coercive economic measures on other countries to maintain their domination, pointing out that these countries don’t seek reforming the world order.
