International Community Needs to Join Syrian Government’s Efforts in Fight against Terrorism: Foreign Ministry
DAMASCUS, (ST)- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates has reaffirmed the need to unify the international community’s efforts to fight terrorism in complete coordination and coordination with the Syrian government, urging the UN and the Security Council to condemn the coward terrorist attack that yesterday targeted the people of Kafraya and al-Fou’a and to hold the perpetrators and their supporters accountable.
On Saturday, tens of peoples were martyred and tens others were wounded as a result of a terrorist car bomb explosion that targeted the bus convoy evacuating the people of the terrorist-besieged Kafraya and al-Fou’a villages of Idleb countryside to Aleppo. The blast occurred in the foreign-backed terrorist-held area of al-Rashidin to the west of Aleppo, where the buses were waiting for entering Aleppo. The terrorist blast claimed the lives of more than 120 people, most of them were children and women, injured more than 200 others and caused huge damage to the vehicles and ambulances. The terrorists allowed the entry of a booby-trapped car to the area where the buses exist after loading it with children food materials aiming to kill as many children as possible, the ministry said in two identical letters to the UN Chief and President of the Security Council on Sunday.
According to the ministry, the barbaric terrorist attack coincided with a hysterical campaign by the armed terrorist groups and their operators against Syria. It indicated the terrorists’ bankruptcy amid successful national reconciliation cases reached in different parts of the country. The new crime aimed at blocking the implementation of the agreement reached to lift the unjust siege that has been imposed years on the Syrian citizens in Kafraya and al-Fou’a in Idleb countryside and to expel gunmen from the cities of Zabadani and Madaya in Damascus Countryside with the purpose of alleviating the suffering of citizens resulted from the terrorists’ constant attempts to prolong the crisis.
The coward attack, the ministry went on to say, comes as a response by the terrorists and their masters to the victories achieved by the Syrian Arab army and its allies in the battle against terrorist organizations in different areas countrywide.
The ministry criticized the deadly silence of the countries, which claim that they are protecting human rights and are keen on the lives of the Syrian people, over this terrorist blast which is an evident war crime and a crime against humanity and which completes the American unjustified aggression on the Syrian Shayrat airbase. The ministry stressed that by keeping silent, these countries confirm the fact that they are supporting terrorism, killing and destruction in Syria.
The government of the Syrian Arab Republic calls on the UN to condemn the terrorist blast, punish the perpetrators and bring government,s which fund, arm and shelter terrorists, namely Turkey, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, France, the US and Britain, to justice and to force the countries of these government to implement all Security Council resolutions on fighting terrorism, the ministry concluded.
