Syrian archer Joland Ali Galoul is undergoing intensive preparations for her participation in the Archery World Cup, which will be hosted in the Spanish capital, Madrid, next July.
Goland has proven her development through her performance and good results in local tournaments in Spain, the most recent of which was the last weekend tournament, where she came in seventh place out of more than thirty-three participants.
In a phone call with Al Watan from Spain, Joland said: “I will participate in the World Cup on behalf of Syria. This is Syria’s first participation in a world championship.”
She added “I am working hard to achieve decent results on behalf of Syria through intensive training and participation in all local tournaments that precede the World Cup to increase my experience.”
Regarding future plans, Goland said: “The focus is on studying the criteria and conditions for participation in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games, where the compound archery has been approved as one of the participating games.
She pointed out “We can participate on behalf of Syria with a team of male and female athletes.”
The biggest challenge facing Goland is the lack of a coach at the moment due to the very high fees for a coach at the World Cup.
