Youssef Annan, Director of Planning and International Cooperation at the Ministry of Education, discussed today with a delegation from the “Abjad” Educational Initiative means of enhancing cooperation between the ministry and the initiative to advance the educational process in Syria.
During a meeting held at the Ministry’s headquarters in Damascus, Annan emphasized the need to implement the initiative’s activities in accordance with the priorities determined by the Ministry, and to provide training to personnel in coordination with the Ministry’s Rehabilitation and Training Directorate.
Annan indicated that the initiative’s activities enhance and support formal and non-formal education by rehabilitating school infrastructure, training administrative and educational staff, providing psychological and social support services to students, and supporting students enrolled in courses based on enrichment programs.
For his part, Mohammed Al-Dimashqi, a member of the initiative’s board of directors, expressed the initiative’s willingness to contribute to meeting the Ministry’s needs for the restoration of schools damaged by the bombing of the former regime, in addition to working to train teaching personnel in primary schools in rural areas of Idlib, Damascus, and Hama.
Annan also discussed with a delegation from the Group of Civilian Volunteers (GVC) organization enhancing joint cooperation to rehabilitate schools, provide them with furniture, provide training to the teaching staff, and promote non-formal education.
