Hassoun: Enhancing Martyrdom Culture in all Aspects of Society
DAMASCUS,(ST)_ Participants in the Baath forum for dialogue have emphasized that martyrdom is an educational and ethical school and a bridge towards victory and what is offered to the families of the martyrs can never be equal to sacrifices of their children, stressing the importance of consolidating values martyrdom and loyalty among the Syrian people.
In a speech at the forum hosted yesterday by the Damascus Baath Party branch under the title of “martyrdom and martyrs in the eyes of the Syrians” Information Minister Omran al-Zoubi said “martyrs are the reason for continuity of life,” stressing that nothing can be equivalent to the size of their sacrifice.
The minister also stressed that Syria “will not compromise with anyone targeting the Syrian army” and “that those who target the army are but conspirators and Zionists and that their only option is to drop their arms and surrender.”
For his part, His Eminence the Grand Mufti of the Republic Dr. Ahmad Badr Al-Din Hassoun explained that martyrdom is an ideological culture since the beginning of creation, pointing to the urgent need to devote the culture of martyrdom in all aspects of society including schools and universities, and suggested the establishment of a fund in schools to take care of the families of martyrs, with the aim to consolidate values of martyrdom in the minds of children.
For her part former minister of culture Dr. Lubana Mshaweh stressed that martyrdom is an educational and ethical school and a bridge for Syria for achieving victory, noting the great human losses inflicted on the Syrians caused by the barbarism of war mounted on Syria and that women who endured great part of hardships remained steadfast until the crisis is eliminated.
Chairman of the Syrian Artists Union Zuhair Ramadan, highlighted experiences and stories that show the role of martyrdom in the community, stressing that the unjust global war being waged against Syria is targeting the unity and solidarity of its people, its free decision, independent, history and civilization.
He called for “allocating necessary resources to produce works of art that contribute to enhancing the values of martyrdom in society and promoting a way to deal with the families of the martyrs and to facilitate their affairs.”
In conclusion of the forum, its participants honored several martyrs families and relatives.
