DAMASCUS, (ST)-Minister of Information Mohammad Ramez Turjman has stressed that Syria is facing foreign-backed takfiri terrorism and is being exposed to a disinformation media campaign with the purpose of undermining its historical and cultural principles and to turn the country into conflicting mini states.
He made the remarks during a meeting on Monday with a media delegation visiting Syria in an initiative sponsored by the Social Justice Network in Australia.
The delegation comprises journalists from the United States, Australia and eight European countries.
During the meeting, Turjman presented some videos that refute western media allegations about several incidents in Syria and affirmed that what is going on in Syria serves Israel’s interest and aims to destroy the country by employing takfiri mercenaries to attack the country’s infrastructure, medicines factories and other vital facilities that provides services to citizens.
The minister hailed the Syrian media’s efforts in defending the homeland and in uncovering the conspiracy hatched against Syria, pointing out that Syria counts on honest and peace and justice-loving people of the world to convey to their governments the truth about events in Syria, particularly after the Syrian national media was targeted and its channels were prevented from broadcasting on several satellites.
He affirmed that “the American aggression on Syria was based on fabrications about the allleged use of chemical weapons in Khan Sheikoun,” pointing out that the aggression came amid notable victories achieved by the Syrian army nationwide and amid successful government-sponsored reconciliation cases.
Many western and regional countries are still supporting terrorist attacks, said, Turjman, noting the barbaric terrorist blast that targeted busses carrying evacuees from Kafraya and al-Foua villages.
On his part, Dr. Jamal Daoud, head of the delegation, asserted that the delegation’s visit aims at having future media cooperation as to convey the reality of events in Syria. It also aims to voice solidarity with and support for the steadfastness of the Syrian people, army and leadership in the confrontation of the terrorist war on the country.
The media delegation stressed their strong condemnation of the flagrant US aggression on Syria and they lashed out at their governments’ anti-Syria policies.
They pointed out that what they saw during their visit to Aleppo uncovered the lies promoted by western media outlets about Syria events and exposed the allegations of the so-called opposition about them having popular support.
