Information Minister stresses role of national media in counterterrorism

DAMASCUS – Information Minister Omran al- Zoubi stressed that the Syrian media outlets has been able to confront misleading campaigns launched by hostile media outlets during the past five years of crisis.

During a meeting with participants of the central media training course organized by Revolutionary Youth Union in Damascus Sunday, al-Zoubi stressed the sacrifices of the Syrian media, as many people of the staff were victims of the war while fulfilling their duty, as several institutions were targeted in attempts to silence the voice of reality, SANA reported.

 On the Russian support to Syria in confronting terrorism, the Information Minister clarified that the Russian warplanes strike terrorists’ dens in fulfillment of the agreement between Syria and Russia for confronting international terrorism and eliminating the terrorist organization of “the Islamic State in Iraq and al-Sham” (ISIS), clarifying that “Russia has never been, in its history, a colonist country.”

Minister al-Zoubi pointed out the seriousness of the Russian air strikes on terrorists’ dens, whose results pushed the terrorist organizations and their backers to cry out, stressing that Washington Alliance has not achieved significant results for a year- since it was established.
