Information Minister Stresses “Golan Will Always be a Syrian Arab Land”

DASMASCUS, (ST)- Information Minister Imad Sara has stressed that the occupied Syrian Golan will always be a Syrian Arab land and that US President Donald Trump’s decision to recognize “Israel’s sovereignty” over this Syrian land has separated the countries which support organized terrorism from the countries that resist this terrorism.

Sara, who was speaking during a rally organized by Syrian journalists in Damascus in solidarity with the people of occupied Golan, said this solidarity rally aims to confirm the fact that Golan is a Syrian Arab land and to stress that the US flagrant bias towards “Israel” won’t change the identity of Golan.

“By signing a declaration on the usurpation of Golan, Trump has classified the countries that support global organized terrorism from the countries that resist this terrorism, namely Syria, the axis of resistance and Russia,” he added.

Replying a question on the Arab countries stance on Trump’s declaration, the minister wondered “why the Arab countries haven’t  summoned the US ambassadors in their capitals to protest this move and why the Arab League hasn’t held an emergency session. It is a dangerous development.. It is the usurpation of a dear part of the Arab homeland.”

There should be strong practical stances not only condemnation and denunciation words,” he pointed out.

On some western countries’ statements on Trump’s Golan move, Sara said several condemnation statements were issued by a number of western countries including Britain, US’s strong ally. However, these stances are only statments to the media, “we need deeds on ground not only words, because these very countries are supporting terrorism in Syria and seeking its division.”

On his part, Chairman of the Journalists’ Union Mousa Abdul Nour, affirmed the important role of the media in exposing Trump’s arrogant policies and behavior that lead to igniting the entire world.

“The American administration shouldn’t be managed through a tweet or a statement,” Abdul Nour said.
